Iowa Straw Poll

As expected, Mitt Romney won easily (31%). But the big surprise of the night was Mike Huckabee, who came in second at 18.1%. Huckabee's campaign has been operating on a "shoe-string budget," spending only $150K in Iowa. So this gives some life to Huckabee's campaign.

My sense is that if we he stays positive and if voters continue to respond to Huckabee, he might not be a bad VP choice for Romney, if Romney gets the nomination. A folksy evangelical former-minister southerner would surely help the Romney ticket.

But most of my political predictions don't pan out, so take it with a grain of salt!
