President Obama has nominated Dr. Collins to head the National Institutes of Health.

HT: Alex Chediak, who has more info.

Update: As has been noted, Dr. Collins is an evangelical, pro-choice, and a supporter of federally funded embryonic stem cell research. He also headed up the Human Genome Project, about which outgoing NIH President Elias Zerhouni said: "A thousand years from now, the only thing anyone will remember about the first decade of the 21st century is the Human Genome Project, which will be the defining event of this era."

HT: Tevi Troy

Update: Marvin Olasky has a good, brief profile on his faith in Christ and his belief in theistic evolution.
